~12% of China’s natural gas market is unregulated and growing

In Daily Hot Topics - Natural Gas

China’s LNG distribution via trucks is unregulated and accounts for ~12% of the total natural gas market.

China is watching unregulated prices carefully as a strawman for further market reform expansions.

But in the interim, China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) is warning that they are watching the LNG truck market carefully and will step in to squash any price “malicious speculation” and “exaggerating hype”.

Look for China, the world’s largest commodity consumer, to continue transition from regulated to unregulated markets.
