South Louisiana Methanol project will use ~0.17 BCF/day of natural gas
South Louisiana Methanol project is funded after ~5 years of development.
Financial sponsor is Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Group (SABIC).
Located on the Mississippi River, about halfway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Proposed production capacity of 2 million tons/year of methanol would create demand for ~0.17 BCF/day of natural gas.
The US petrochemical complex continues aggressive growth, creating demand for natural gas, which will support natural gas pricing.
